SLOW DOWN ALREADY!!!

It's been a busy couple of months in the Mobley house...can't believe the time flies by so fast. I swear, the older I get the faster it flies, seriously. All you young people - take note. :)

Here are some updates on our family -

Josh - finishing up his 6th grade year. I simply CANNOT believe my kid is a pre-teen. I'm thankful and sad all at the same time to see him growing up...we're seeing him start to make some good decisions (sometimes, lol) and it's a good thing, really it is. It makes me so proud of him and the young man he is becoming. We're in the last six weeks of school, and in the progress of figuring out which classes he'll be in next year, for middle school - so far, looks like band again and conversational spanish (interest is sparked because Daddy speaks spanish with all "the guys" at work). The other night, he decided that instead of playing upstairs, he'd cuddle on the couch with Zoe...such a sweet big brother.  Tonight, he gave me one of the sweetest notes ever - just what I needed. Sometimes life makes you feel pretty crummy, and this was THE perfect pick-me-up. Nevermind that it stopped me dead in my tracks, hanging from the shower door, covered up by my towel. I had just come in from a run and was getting ready to clean up then *SIGH* get some stuff done for tomorrow, when all of a sudden this amazing little note popped up. My heart belongs to two men - my boy and his Dad. :)

"12 reasons why I love you <3 <3 <3"

"12 reasons why I love you <3 <3 <3" ... continued

Rylie - playing soccer this spring, and it seems as though she has a love/hate relationship with it. Honestly, she's hard to figure out with it...if you ask her, she says she loves it and is excited about it...but as soon as she gets on the field, she's pretty much over it. During her first game, she decided she was done playing so in the middle of a quarter she just walked off the field, found a bottle of water on the sidelines, and promptly sat down in a chair to drink and watch everyone else play. We've asked her constantly if she wants to play, encouraging her to tell the truth because we won't be mad or upset if she doesn't want to play. But it's this silly little circle of saying yes but acting like it's no. She's doing well in school - we're working hard to earn glitter dots (those are good things) and last week she'd earned enough to take her clip home (then they start over with a new one). So proud of her - she's as busy as ever - the main note she gets in her folder is about minding her own business...the girl just can't seem to do it! She and I had a fun day a couple weekends ago - we went to eat breakfast and went shopping just the two of us. We had a good time and it was great to spend time with her and interact without her having to compete for attention. Love my little ladybug!
She looks like she's dancing here... :)

Zoe - as sweet and crazy as ever. She's still potty training...she's regressed more than the other two ever did. Not sure what's going on there...but other than that she's an opinionated stubborn bratty little ball of perfect. Really, I don't know what our family would be like without her. She is definitely a creature of habit, and has to have everything "just so" to feel comfortable. She has her polka-dot blanket that she takes to and from school every day, and you better NOT ever forget it, or it won't end well. She has started this thing lately where she sucks on her bottom lip and taps her first finger. I asked her why she does it one day and she said "because I like to" (duh Mommy!).
...and that about sums it up. :)
in case you weren't sure how silly she can be...!

Mike and Lynne - we're good. Really good. God has really blessed our marriage. This last weekend, Mike whisked me away for a "date weekend". I've always wanted to do this - we packed our bags and drove 15 miles to a hotel in downtown Ft. Worth! We stayed right in downtown, next to Sundance Square Friday and Saturday night. We didn't really plan anything specific for the weekend, except a tour of the Rahr & Sons brewery (it's about a minute from downtown) on Saturday afternoon. Friday night, we went to dinner a few blocks from the hotel - it was late and I didn't want to carry my purse, so I just grabbed my ID and we walked to a mexican place. It was ok, not great (my food was better than Mike's). Saturday, we slept in (anything past 6am is sleeping in by our standards!), went to breakfast, went to buy Mike a pair of tennis shoes (his flip flops weren't working out) then went to the brewery. We'd been warned to get there early, that it gets pretty full. At 12:45 (it opened at 1) there was a LONG line...we got one of the last parking spaces...I grabbed my purse to get my ID out so I'd have it in hand when we got up there. BUT....crap. I'd left it in my jeans pocket from the night before!!! :( So the ONE thing we'd actually planned was ruined, and it was my fault! Mike was so sweet about it though...so, we went back to the hotel, then walked around downtown for awhile and stopped at that Mi Cocina patio to have a few drinks (I like the mambo taxi, but I still don't get all the hype). Then, we had a FABULOUS dinner at Ruth's Chris (it's actually at the hotel)...Sunday morning we slept in again then headed home. All in all, a great weekend...I didn't care much what we did...I just liked the uninterrupted "us" time. :)
Mike and Lynne, Easter Weekend 2012

In other news... we've been going to a new church for about a month or so now. So far, we really like it. We had been going to The Village since last summer, and we liked it, but we weren't feeling the connection we were looking for. We went to The Village because we'd heard Matt Chandler was a phenomenal speaker...the hype didn't disappoint. He is truly a gifted speaker...but it's a BIG church and we found it difficult to get plugged in - not to mention it was far. We were willing to drive if we felt like it was where God wanted us, but it felt like something was holding us back. One Sunday, they showed a couple of videos of pastors from two of their church plants. One of them was called City View, and our ears perked up when they said they were in Keller. So, we decided to give it a try. It's VERY close to home, and we felt welcomed right away. The second week, we sat behind the pastor's wife, and then met her after the service. As it turns out, they live in our neighborhood! And they host a group on Wednesday nights! GET OUT. We have gone to the group a few times, and really like the people. so far, we feel like this is where God wants us to be. We're praying about it, and are asking God to show us if this is where He wants us to be long term. For the moment, we're very happy here. :)

So, this ended up being a LONG post. But, that's us...for those of you that read this, I'll try to post more often going forward.

Love,
Lynne + family

PS - here are some other fun pictures of us recently - enjoy!
